If you are taking on a fundraising event and would like to raise sponsorship in support of Sebastian’s Action Trust we would be delighted to hear from you and will offer whatever support and advice we can.
Here are just a few tips on how to make the most of all the sponsorship opportunities available to you:
JustGiving
The majority of our fundraisers find the quickest and most effective way of raising sponsorship is to set up a JustGiving webpage. The page allows you to include photos and details of your event whilst also telling prospective sponsors a bit about Sebastian’s Action Trust and what we do. You can also use it to update people once you have completed you event.
Setting up your page is really easy to do by selecting the Set up your own fundraising page tab on the website.
Paper sponsorship forms
If you would like a paper sponsorship form we can put one in the post or email it to you. Please contact us on 01344 622500 or email us
Gift Aid
By encouraging your sponsors to check the Gift Aid section the Trust can claim between 22p and 28p back in tax for every pound they donate, at no extra cost to them.
In order for us to claim the Gift Aid your sponsor must give their full name and home address including their postcode. We can not claim Gift Aid if they give just their work address or email address. All sponsors who donate through JustGiving will complete the gift aid section online – this saves the Trust time and generally means they are more likely to fill in the correct information than when completing a paper sponsorship form.
The Trust can only claim Gift Aid from sponsors who are UK taxpayers.
More tips on making the most of sponsorship opportunities:
- Set yourself a fundraising goal
- Set up a JustGiving page for your event and email your page to your colleagues, friends and family
- Ask your company if they will make a donation to match whatever you raise in sponsorship
- Put a paragraph at the bottom of all emails you send through work or to friends giving details of your fundraising challenge and a link to your JustGiving page
- Send out regular email updates or a blog to your colleagues, family and friends telling them about your training or preparations and detailing how close you are to reaching your fundraising target
- Publicise your fundraising efforts and your JustGiving link on Facebook
- Have paper sponsorship forms at the ready for those that are not technically minded
- Place a poster publicising your fundraising goal in the staff room at work with a sponsorship form and details of your JustGiving page
- Ensure that, where possible, your sponsors agree to the Trust claiming Gift Aid on their donation; this makes a huge difference and can increase the funds you raise by up to 28%. They must give their full name and home address including the postcode and they must pay at least the same amount in income tax or capital gains tax as the Trust would claim on their donation
