Why we ofer respite holidays
"For Sebastian, holidays with his family were so important. He cherished the opportunities which came, all too infrequently because of his illness, to spend time with his much loved sister Rebecca and his mummy and daddy- simply being together. Being able to give other families this special time was key to Sebastian’s vision for his holiday home and it is fundamental to all that we strive to achieve in this unique facility"

Here, other families explain why the holiday home is so important:

“There are times during treatment when you feel as if you want to run away, but not knowing what’s around the corner makes it difficult to think so much as a week ahead let alone plan a holiday or short break. We soon realised that whilst undergoing chemotherapy to book anything was taking a risk.”
Liz Barrass – mother of Finley

“Sebastian’s House is going to be able to provide the happy memories that families need during their child’s illness, and it is what Lucy missed most when in hospital – spending precious time with her father Chris and sister Rachel.”
Anne Clark – mother of Lucy

“When you have got a very sick child, or in my case two very sick children, having a normal holiday is virtually impossible and therefore having a holiday home or a place that sick children can go, and have everything on hand that they need to look after them, is absolutely essential.”
Sarah McIntyre – mother of Tom and Hazel

“Throughout her illness Laura longed to escape (if only for a short while) and feel like a ‘normal’ child again, but she also needed to feel that she was in a safe environment. The holiday home that Sebastian envisaged would be just that haven for these wonderfully brave and special children.”
Jayne Dillon – mother of Laura
