Harry Bell is an eleven year old boy who has battled with leukaemia for much of the last six years. He is also affected by Asperger’s syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder which often involves significant difficulties in social interaction along with restrictive or repetitive patterns of behaviour. In spite of all he has to contend with, Harry remains incredibly positive and upbeat. He is in all the top sets at school and he is an accomplished chess player. His ambition is to become a pilot and he is incredibly knowledgeable about many subjects, including volcanoes, the solar system and meerkats.
Harry’s gritty determination to live life fully is truly humbling. To read more of Harry’s story, which was featured in our Spring ’09 newsletter, click here.
