Join our Windsor Twilight Walk
Women of all ages are being asked to join together to take part in the first Windsor Twilight Walk this May to raise funds for children with multiple disabilities and life-limiting illnesses.
The event, which will take place on Saturday 8th May 2010, is being jointly organised by Sebastian’s Action Trust and national charity The Children’s Trust, Tadworth, both of which do a lot to support children in this area.
Participants can choose to walk 7 miles or 13 miles through Windsor, the Great Park and Eton, with both routes taking walkers past some of the area’s most famous and beautiful landmarks. Online registration for the walk is now open here.
Sarah Clark, Fundraising Officer for Sebastian’s Action Trust, said: “This event is a chance for women to get together with their friends or work colleagues and do something that will not only give them a huge sense of achievement but will make a real difference to children who have cancer and other life-limiting illnesses or who have suffered brain injuries. The great thing about the walk is that you don’t have to be super fit to take part. We have two superb routes planned and we hope that there will be a great atmosphere as the sun goes down.”
Julia Hart, Community Fundraising Manager for The Children’s Trust, said: “This is a great opportunity for both charities to raise awareness about parents who have a child with multiple disabilities or complex needs for whom a good night’s sleep is a rare luxury. With your help, we hope to make the Twilight Walk an annual event and support the work of two fantastic charities which are changing children’s lives.”
The walk will start and finish at Thames Valley Athletics Centre in Eton and the action will kick off with a group warm up from 5pm with the walk starting at 6pm. All participants will receive a free event t-shirt, goodie bag and medal.
Entry for the event is £10 for the 7 mile walk and £20 for the 13 mile walk, with groups of four or more getting a discount of £5 per head off their entry for the 13 mile event. All participants must register in advance and those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is being sponsored by Ela Klein from Temple Spa (www.templespa.com/elaklein), Dominos Pizza in Maidenhead and The Belvedere Arms in Sunninghill. We would love to hear from any other companies who would be interested in sponsoring an aspect of this event or in entering a team.
