Recognition at its highest honour for children’s charity’s CEO

On Tuesday 19th May, Sebastian’s Action Trusts’ Chief Executive Officer Jane Gates was presented with an OBE by HRH Prince William, Duke of CambrMike Jane Rebeccaidge, for her services to seriously-ill children and their families.

Jane made the short journey to Windsor Castle, alongside her husband Mike and daughter Rebecca to collect the prestigious accolade.

Jane Gates, OBE said, “I am so humbled by this achievement. It is such an honour that is accepted in the name of my beloved son Sebastian who set out the challenge for us to provide a special place where sick children could visit and create precious family moments. It is a true reflection of what ‘we’ who are the team that is Sebastian’s Action Trust has achieved”.

Caroline Holton, Chief Development Officer at Sebastian’s Action Trust added, “The award is hugely deserved. Jane is extremely passionate about the charity, going above and beyond for families we support, our volunteers and its supporters. Jane’s commitment and admiration has ensured that we achieve key milestones as a Trust, but more importantly continue to walk alongside families of life-limited and seriously-ill children from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

Sebastian’s Action Trust celebrated its 10th year anniversary last year, where it opened its Family Outreach Hub in Slough, providing another essential service to families of seriously-ill children in the Berkshire area. The Trust has also started work on expanding its respite holiday home, The Bluebells to include a much needed counselling and well-being suite.
